Jason Lau, Ph.D., has over twenty years of experience in higher education. He currently serves as the Interim Associate Dean and Senior International Officer for the School of Extended and International Education at Sonoma State University. He is also an adjunct faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College.

He holds a Ph.D. in educational policy and leadership studies from The University of Iowa, and his BA and MA in leisure, youth and human services administration from the University of Northern Iowa. Jason traveled from Hong Kong to Iowa to be the first member of his family to receive a college education. Prior to serving as a member of the Region XII team, he served on NAFSA’s Membership Engagement and Leadership Development Committees.

In 2011, the University of Northern Iowa's (UNI) Alumni Association honored him with the prestigious Heritage Honours Young Alumnus Award. In 2016, he was inducted into the UNI's Hall of Excellence. Jason grew up in Hong Kong and holds multiple citizenship from Hong Kong, Portugal and the United States.
