Jason Lau, PhD

Jason Lau, PhD, has over twenty years of experience in higher education. He is the executive director and senior business officer of the School of Extended and International Education at CSU Sonoma State University. He is also an adjunct faculty at the Santa Rosa Junior College. He holds a PhD in educational policy and leadership studies from The University of Iowa, and his BA and MA in leisure, youth and human services administration from the University of Northern Iowa. Lau traveled from Hong Kong to Iowa to be the first member of his family to receive a college education. Prior to serving as a member of NAFSA’s Membership Engagement, Lau was a member of NAFSA's Leadership Development Committee.

In 2011, the University of Northern Iowa's (UNI) Alumni Association honored him with the prestigious Heritage Honours Young Alumnus Award. In 2016, he was inducted into the UNI's Hall of Excellence. Lau grew up in Hong Kong and holds citizenship from Hong Kong, European Union and the United States.
