Katie Irwin, Director of Global Education at Hampshire College, has been at Hampshire College for 12 years and has been Director of the Global Education Office since 2011. Katie received her Master’s in International Education at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, VT. Katie has experience both in education abroad and international student services in managing and advising semester and short-term faculty led programs and advising international students and scholars as both the Responsible Officer for the J-1 Exchange Program as well as the Primary Designated School Official for the F-1 Visas. She also has experience in overseas health and safety and risk and crisis management as well as managing the daily operations of a small study abroad office. Prior to coming to Hampshire, Katie was a French/Spanish language teacher and has worked, studied, and traveled extensively throughout Europe, specifically in France and Italy and speaks French, Italian and Spanish. She also received her B.A. in French from Dickinson College and a M.A. in Teaching from Fairfield University. Katie is also a member of NAFSA Trainer Corps and last co-presented at the NAFSA Annual Conference in Washington DC on Risk Assessment and Crisis Management in Education Abroad.
