Deadline for biometrics in new VWP passports extended to October 26, 2005

H.R. 4417, signed into law on August 9, 2004, extends by one year (until October 26, 2005) the deadline by which new passports issued for use in the Visa Waiver Program must be biometrically enabled. This does not alter the separate, October 26, 2004 deadline that passports used by VWP entrants be machine-readable.
