The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued a report entitled “Immigration and Naturalization Service’s Ability to Provide Timely and Accurate Alien Information to the Social Security Administration.” The report assesses whether INS is meeting timeframes for loading information about aliens into INS databases that are used by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to issue Social Security Numbers (SSNs).
