DOS's interim rule re: SEVIS rule made permanent

A Federal Register publication makes permanent the Department of State’s regulations pertaining to foreign student and exchange visitors, finalizing the verification and reporting procedures required by DHS’s SEVIS program. The DOS is officially amending is regulations by requiring consular officials to verify SEVIS forms I-20 of DS-2019 against SEVIS data in the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD) and by also requiring consular officers to verify the applicant’s payment of the SEVIS fee. The interim rule was effective May 23, 2003 and the rule was made permanent upon its appearance in the Federal Register on February 16, 2005. AMDOC#: 200502017
