Position: Content Coordinator for Health and Safety in Education Abroad
Term Dates: Two-year term, renewable for one term (maximum of 4 years)
The volunteers who lead the Education Abroad Knowledge Community (EA KC) strive to sustain and develop timely resources, tools, and model practices for education abroad, including study, internships, service-learning, and research abroad. The Content Coordinator for Health & Safety helps to create and maintain resources to support education abroad professionals working in health, safety, crisis response, and risk management initiatives. The position also serves as the co-chair of the subcommittee on Health & Safety in Education Abroad.

Major Functions and Responsibilities
Within the framework of the NAFSA Strategic Plan, this position will:
- Coordinate and create high-quality, timely information and resources on health, safety, crisis response and risk management in education abroad
- Participate actively in the EAKC Network by prompting or responding to discussions on health, safety, crisis response and risk management issues.
- Manage the work of the subcommittee and support its completion of assigned EAKC deliverables
- Encourage and facilitate the inclusion of health, safety, crisis response and risk management related content for consideration at annual and regional conferences.
- Connect the education abroad community to appropriate NAFSA resources.
- Collaborate with the NAFSA staff partner to achieve these goals.

- White paper on Health and Safety Considerations for Managing Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs Prepared for One Person Offices
- Online event on Restarting Education Abroad after the pandemic
- Web resource on Notifications and Emergency Responses for Education Abroad
Commitment
- Assure NAFSA membership through the length of the leadership term
- Confirm for a two-year term, renewable once, upon agreement with EAKC leadership, for a maximum term of four years.
- Prepare for and attend leadership meetings throughout the year. Most meetings are online.
- Dedicate approximately four to six hours per month to the role.

Qualifications
- Previous volunteer/presentation experience with NAFSA
- A minimum of three years’ experience in education abroad.
- An active interest in assisting colleagues with professional and leadership development.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership working with health, safety, and security in education abroad.
- Ability to work effectively with a team in an outcomes-based environment.
- Willingness to adopt organization-wide perspectives.
