Ketevan Darakvelidze, MPhil

Ilia State University

Ketevan Darakhvelidze is chancellor of Ilia State University (ISU), one of Georgia’s most dynamic, research-intensive universities. Since 2011, she has served multiple university leadership roles and has advanced ISU’s global engagement, institutional development, and innovation ecosystem, securing over €16 million through more than 300 international projects under Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, USAID, and others. A Fulbright (Muskie) fellow and Erasmus Mundus scholar, she holds master’s degrees from Columbia University and the University of Oslo, the University of Tampere, and the University of Aveiro. With over 50 large-scale initiatives, she has strengthened higher education reform and transformation, research integrity, innovation, and internationalization. Darakhvelidze champions international collaboration as a driver of democratic, cultural, and economic development, aligning with NAFSA’s mission for inclusive, future-ready education.
