Region I

Region I

Welcome to the Region I website! As one of the 11 NAFSA organized regions, we are comprised of Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Region I has approximately 450 members, representing more than 130 institutions.

Each NAFSA region is governed by an elected chair and a team comprised of colleagues from different areas within international education. Regions publish newsletters, sponsor annual regional conferences and provide resources for the region. The Leadership Team welcomes both members and nonmembers of NAFSA to the region and encourages your involvement.

Free Webinar: Marketing Your International Experience (A Training for Advisers)
May 16, 2019

Ann Hubbard Director of Academic Assessment AIFS Study Abroad
Angela Manginelli Director of Alumni & Diversity Initiatives AIFS Study Abroad

We all know that students gain valuable transferable skills during their study abroad experiences, but how do we guide them in identifying and articulating these skills? These skills are highly-sought by potential employers, yet most students are not aware of how to talk about their experience in ways that employers will appreciate. The NAFSA Region I team, BCCIE, and AIFS study Abroad are pleased to announce an Education Abroad webinar to provide you with tools to offer career development sessions to student on your campus. A student handbook and trainer guide will be shared in advance, which you may use with your students. We recommend you print a copy of each for easy reference during the webinar; the pdf documents are available upon registration. You may wish to invite your Career Services colleagues to join the webinar too as there are many success stories of this session being offered to students in collaboration between Education Abroad and Career Services.
