(Washington, D.C.) — Today, NAFSA: Association of International Educators announced a new partnership with Gateway International Group (Gateway) that will provide several scholarships for professionals working in international education at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to participate in NAFSA’s Academy for International Education, its signature program for supporting aspiring leaders in the field.
“At a time when funding for MSIs is being decreased, this partnership with Gateway underscores NAFSA’s deep commitment to ensuring that professionals at all types of higher education institutions have access to the tools, networks, and training they need to advance their careers and serve the evolving needs of their students,” said Fanta Aw, NAFSA executive director and CEO. “By investing in the professional development of international educators at MSIs, we strengthen not only individual institutions but also the field of international education as a whole.”
The NAFSA Academy for International Education is an intensive year-long training program that for more than twenty years has provided participants with a deeper and broader understanding of international education and prepared them for future leadership roles.
“We are delighted to partner with NAFSA to expand professional development opportunities for international educators,” said Anthony Ogden, Gateway’s founder and managing director. “At a moment when our field is navigating rapid change, Gateway is committed to investing in the future of international education and ensuring our colleagues have the resources and support they need to thrive.”
The Academy for International Education will accept applications for its 2026 class from September 15, 2025 through November 3, 2025. All applicants from MSIs are eligible for the Gateway Impact Grant for Professional Development. Interested applicants should visit nafsa.org/academy to learn more and apply.
