Five intellectuals chosen to guide thought leadership, research, and scholarship in international education
For Immediate Release

Washington, September 1, 2020 - NAFSA: Association of International Educators is pleased to announce the 2020-2021 NAFSA Senior Fellows. Selected based on their commitment to study, practice and international collaboration, this year’s cohort brings unique strengths and global expertise in climate change, sustainability and international higher education.

In addition to providing academic support to NAFSA’s efforts in thought leadership and scholarship generation, the NAFSA Senior Fellows program aims to meet the needs of its expanding, diverse audiences including faculty and scholars, graduate students, senior international officers, university presidents, provosts, global voices, government leaders and policy experts. With the assistance of the Senior Fellows, NAFSA continues its aim proactively to define, develop, support and integrate sustainable practices into its work and the field of international education.

The theme of “Climate Change, Sustainability, and International Higher Education” will guide the five senior fellows in contributing to academic scholarship for NAFSA. The Senior Fellows will participate in the NAFSA 2021 Annual Conference & Expo in Orlando, Florida and will work with NAFSA to develop resources on this important issue over the course of their term as fellows.

“We selected this year’s Senior Fellows because they represent a broad range of global voices on issues related to climate change and sustainability,” stated Dr. Esther D. Brimmer, Executive Director and CEO of NAFSA: Association of International Educators. “Each of these remarkable men and women provide strong intellectual and practical experience that will prove crucial for NAFSA’s contribution to educators’ efforts to create a more sustainable environment through shared research and collaboration.”
