Adam Julian has served as director of international student and scholar services and outreach at Appalachian State University since 2015. His roles have included Appalachian’s PDSO of the F-1 program, the RO of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, and team lead for employment-based immigration filings and legal permanent residency cases on behalf of the university. Adam has been a member of NAFSA’s International Student and Scholar Regulatory Practice (ISS RP) Committee since 2016. He is currently the chair of the 52-member committee and will serve as chair of ISS RP through December 2021. In 2017 and 2018 he served as the chair of ISS RP's travel subcommittee and was a member of the travel subcommittee in 2016.
Adam is a two-time Fulbright grant recipient (Moldova 2011, International Education Administrators Seminar Japan 2018). He received an MA in international education management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey (formerly Monterey Institute of International Studies) and a BA in history from Indiana University where he studied Russian and East European history, and Slavic languages, and literature.
