Betsy Madden, PhD

Dr. Betsy Madden is the Program Director for Advisor Training in International Student and Scholar Services at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMN). She advises F-1 students and trains UMN staff who work with F-1 international students. She is a member of NAFSA's Trainer Corps.

Betsy started her career in international education as a high school English teacher in Japan. She has advised international students and scholars for more than 20 years. She was also a case manager for employment-based immigration cases at a Minneapolis law firm. Betsy obtained her Master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
