Dana Joseph, PhD

Dr. Joseph is the Barnett Professor of Leadership at the University of Central Florida. Her PhD is in Organizational Psychology from the University of Illinois and she also has degrees from the University of Southern California and Texas A&M University. Dr. Joseph’s research focuses on investigating the most popular management trend of the last 25 years: emotional intelligence. Her work on emotional intelligence has been included in the top five most-cited works published in the entire field of management since 2010 and has resulted in over 10,000 citations, 45 peer-reviewed journal articles, five book chapters, two best-paper proceedings, and 75+ refereed conference presentations. Two of her publications have been included on the list of the most impactful papers published in the entire 100-year history of the Journal of Applied Psychology. Her publications have also been highlighted as examples of high-impact research in the book How to Publish High Quality Research (Van Lange & Joireman, 2014) and have received substantial press coverage (e.g., Forbes, Harvard Business Review, Business Insider). She is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and has received various honors from SIOP, including the Schmidt-Hunter Meta-Analysis Award (i.e., the best meta-analysis published in the field) and the John C. Flanagan Award (i.e., best conference paper), and she was listed as the fourth most prolific contributor to the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (Landers, 2015).
