Era Schrepfer

Executive Director
Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS)

Era Schrepfer has served as Executive Director of FIUTS (the Foundation for International Understanding Through Students) since 2006. Founded in 1948, FIUTS has long been a hub for international student engagement in the Seattle area. Under Era’s leadership, the organization has deepened their work to bring community connection to the forefront through programs that engage students as citizen diplomats and connect people across cultures through dialogue, leadership, and shared experiences.

During her tenure, Era has grown FIUTS’ impact through partnerships with the U.S. Department of State and others, bringing young leaders from over 50 countries to Seattle for civic engagement and leadership programs that provide opportunities for local and international students to engage with short term visitors as leaders and mentors. Even through major transitions, Era has remained committed to building belonging, fostering understanding, and ensuring that international students are part of a vibrant and welcoming community.

A former Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic, Era has spent her career working in nonprofit leadership and community development. She currently serves on the Board of Joyas Mestizas, a Mexican youth dance group and as a member of the Seattle International Affairs Advisory Board. She is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to lead, serve, and build lasting connections across cultures.
