Karla Weilbrenner McCollum is the director of international affairs at Indian Hills Community College. She holds a BA in business administration from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO and an MBA from Western Governors University. Karla was previously the director of domestic and international admissions at North Central Missouri College in Trenton, Missouri and currently is the director of international affairs for Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. Karla manages an office focused on recruitment and retention of international students as well as the SEVIS operations and day to day needs of the students. Karla has served as chair of Study Missouri Consortium, the NAFSA Region IV community college representative and is currently the NAFSA Region IV Iowa state rep and is the president-elect of Study Iowa. Karla has presented for the NAFSA Annual Confernce, Education USA webinars, US Department of Commerce webinars, Iowa International Educators Meeting, Missouri international Educators Meeting, and NAFSA Region IV regional meetings on the topic of 2+2 community college transfer pathways, the US Higher Education System, State Consortia members working together to recruit, how to recruit to an institution in rural America, and how to request resources for your office.
