Katherine Burnam is the Study Abroad Advisor in the Global Education Office at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. In this role, she meets with students to ensure the program they choose meets their academic, personal, and professional goals. She is also responsible for establishing and evaluating relationships with program providers and supervising the GEO Peer Advising team. Katherine earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Lynchburg College, and her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Lynchburg. Prior to her role at Virginia Tech Katherine worked advising students in career services at Randolph College for 5 years. As a student, she completed an exchange program in Trieste, Italy that sparked a lifelong passion for travel, intercultural learning, and global citizenry. Katherine enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, volunteering with her church, and being active in her community. Her research interests include diversity in education, nuclear energy, global politics, heritage seeking through travel, and international policy.
