RISE Fellow

Kathleen (Kat) Cade-Gerzon is entering her sixth year in the field of international education and currently serves as the Program Coordinator for International Student Life at Texas Tech University. The daughter of a New Zealand immigrant, Kat grew up in a multicultural household that deeply shaped her values and perspective on global citizenship. Her passion for international engagement was strengthened through her own high school study abroad experience in Japan, where she developed a lasting appreciation for intercultural exchange and cross-cultural learning. In her role at Texas Tech, Kat works closely with international students to support their academic success and personal well-being. She focuses on fostering meaningful connections between students, campus resources, and the local community by developing and implementing a range of cultural programs, educational initiatives, and engagement events. Kat is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness and education within the international student population, recognizing the unique challenges students face when adjusting to a new culture and environment. Outside of her professional work, Kat enjoys spending quality time with her family, exploring new places, attending Renaissance fairs, and doting on her two beloved cats. What do you think? I love that you included your babies in there!
