Roark Miller

Roark Miller has been working in international education for twenty-five years, advising international scholars and students and university staff on the full range of academic visa classifications, cross-cultural adjustment, I-9 complexities, and navigating income tax filing as a VITA trained volunteer. He has held Director/Manager roles in International Offices at the University of California, San Diego, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Emory University. Roark received his B.Mus. in Piano Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory and his Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Michigan, for which he received a Fulbright Hayes Fellowship for dissertation research in Venice, Italy—which opened the door for him later to the field of international education. He has served as Regbud for NAFSA Region 12 and NAFSA liaison for the California Service Center (USCIS), presented at numerous NAFSA conferences (regions VII and XII), served as a NAFSA trainer, and participated in a Fulbright International Education Administration seminar in India. Roark has served as the Fulbright scholar liaison for UC San Diego and has also coached numerous student Fulbright applicants over the years. Roark has also published articles in refereed musicology journals, and has taught at Southern Methodist University, Emory University, and University of Michigan-Dearborn.
