Professor Salah Al-Majeed is an internationally recognised higher education leader and Distinguished Professor of Systems Engineering with decades of transformative executive leadership across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Renowned for driving universities to top-ranked status, he champions innovation, interdisciplinary excellence, and purpose-driven alliances that prepare talent for a global, sustainable, tech-enabled world—bridging research, diplomacy, and industry to achieve meaningful societal impact.

He has redefined how academia collaborates with industry and government, elevating graduate employability through industry-integrated programmes, pioneering clusters in AI, sustainability, energy, and health tech, and securing multimillion-dollar funding through global research collaborations. His leadership has expanded enrolment, strengthened accreditation portfolios, and enhanced operational excellence—boosting institutional efficiency and global visibility while ensuring graduates are equipped to address the complex challenges of an interconnected future.

Currently Dean of Science and Engineering at Al Akhawayn University, he previously held senior academic leadership roles at the University of Lincoln and the University of Gloucestershire and served as Chair of IEEE UK & Ireland Education and STEM. He has cultivated high-impact partnerships with Huawei, the Mastercard Foundation, and Serco—driving initiatives that address the middle-income trap, advance rural digital inclusion, and promote cross-border research, innovation, and diplomacy.
