
Sarah Habtemariam
Sarah Habtemariam is an International Student Counselor and Designated School Official (DSO) at Tulsa Community College in Oklahoma. She is a driven, passionate, and outgoing international education professional. She is an Eritrean and African American with Native American roots. Sarah grew up in a diverse and multicultural background, which inspired her to know and learn more about different cultures and people. Since 2017, she has studied and worked in international student and scholar services. With a background in global studies, Sarah always loved different cultures, languages, travel, adventure, and learning. Sarah studied abroad in Europe and Central America. In 2019, she moved to Conway, Arkansas, where she coordinated new international student orientation and served as a designated school official (DSO) and alternate responsible officer (ARO). In this position, she served on the NAFSA Region III leadership team as the Arkansas State Liaison for two terms. She successfully completed the NAFSA Academy for International Education, cohort 3, class of 2023. Now, she works with F-1 students and other non-immigrants in international student services. Additionally, she serves on the NAFSA Region III Leadership team as the Community College Liaison. In her spare time, she enjoys sports, the outdoors, her dog, family, movies, travel, reading, and art.
