Shannon Ingleby is the international student advisor at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. She started her career in international education while teaching and living in China. After living overseas for three years, she understands the difficulties of moving to a new country and can also celebrate the many ways that living and studying abroad positively impacts an individual. Other prior professional positions include admissions at Adler University and international student advising at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. In her current role at Kirkwood, she serves as the PDSO, specializing in F1 student visa advising, new student orientation, and international admissions and recruitment. One of the most enjoyable parts of her job is advising the International Student Leadership Team. Her students nominated her for Kirkwood’s “Honorary Student Award” during her first year and she strives to maintain professionalism and service to students. Shannon holds an MA in clinical mental health counseling from Adler University and a BA in psychology from Central College.
