Assistant Director for Compliance
Columbia University
Trainer Corps Leadership Team

Tomasz is the Assistant Director for Compliance at Columbia’s International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO). He has been with Columbia since May 2011. In his role, he provides F-1 visa documentation and advising services to admitted Columbia international students, including ESL students in the American Language Program (ALP). Tomasz helps both student populations navigate the US F-1 immigration system, ensuring their visa compliance meets the highest standards. He is also heavily involved in preparing and delivering new-student orientations and webinars, and he actively participates in Open Houses for prospective CU students. He has promoted international education for over 15 years through his work in academia and vocational schools. At NAFSA, he served as a mentor for 1 year and is now a member of its Trainer Corps. Before joining the Columbia community, Tomasz was a PDSO at the Computer Professional Learning Center (CPLC) (now Campus Education), an ESL and vocational proprietary learning institution with six US campuses. In that position, Tomasz supervised six DSOs and oversaw all F-1/M-1 compliance matters.

Tomasz holds three degrees: an Ed.M. from Columbia’s Teachers College, an M.P.A. from New York University, and a B.B.A. from Baruch College. He has lived in Poland, so he is well-versed in the challenges international students may face when studying abroad. In his free time, Tomasz enjoys learning Spanish and collecting sand samples from his travels.
