Immigration: Foreign Physicians and the J-1 Visa Waiver Program is a Congressional Research Service (CRS) report that provides background on foreign medical graduates in J-status and recent developments in the J-1 visa waiver program, including legislative efforts to extend the expired “Conrad 30” program. The “Conrad 30” program was designed to staff medically-underserved areas with J-1 physicians by allowing each state to request 30 waivers of the two-year foreign residency requirement.
