A bill signed into law on October 30, 2004 will allow employers to electronically complete and store Form I-9 employment eligibility verification forms, as well as allow the use of electronic signatures to complete the forms. These changes, which amend INA Sec. 274A(b), will not become effective until the earlier of: the date on which final regulations take effect; or 180 days after the date of the enactment of the law.
