A June 10, 1998 Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) notice announces the suspension of applicability of certain requirements in 8 CFR 214.2 (f)(9) which governs on-campus and off-campus employment for nonimmigrant aliens admitted under F-1 visa and whose means for financial support, as reflected on the student’s Form I-20, is from Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, or the Philippines. This action is taking place due to the economic hardships experienced in theses countries due to the declining value of their country's currency against that of the U.S. This is effective June 10, 1998.
