This resource, prepared by Education Abroad Knowledge Community (EAKC) Regional Liaisons from Region II and VII and the Regional Outreach Coordinator (2023), was created to help Education Abroad Offices collaborate with program leaders to integrate career skill building into short-term programs. Utilizing the NACE 8 Competencies for Career Readiness, it offers a starting place to generate ideas for short-term program leaders searching for new, or better, ways to engage students for career readiness.

NACE 8 Competencies for Career Readiness:

  1. Career & Self-Development
  2. Communication
  3. Critical Thinking
  4. Equity & Inclusion
  5. Leadership
  6. Professionalism
  7. Teamwork
  8. Technology

Consider using this resource to train new study abroad staff, onboard new program leaders, refresh longtime program leaders in a workshop, or co-host a workshop for program leaders with Career Services.
