As education abroad programs rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a renewed focus on students' mental health.  Join this wide-ranging conversation as leaders from the Education Abroad Knowledge Community discuss key concepts connected to diverse students' mental well-being while studying abroad.

Follow along with the conversation:

  1. How has the landscape of Education Abroad changed, particularly in relation to diverse student populations, over the past decade, particularly as it applies to mental health?
  2. Process Privilege explained. At its core, 'process privilege' pertains to the often unintentional advantages or disadvantages created by established systems, structures, or processes based on assumptions about "typical" or "default" participants. These processes might overlook or neglect the diverse lived experiences, challenges, and needs of a varied pool of candidates or participants.
  3. Importance of collaboration. How can the collaborative efforts of H&S, DEI, and Intercultural practitioners result in a more supportive and inclusive environment for marginalized students abroad
  4. Language matters.  How does deficit language, often unintentionally used, affect the mental health of students abroad? And how can we actively transition to more inclusive language in our programs and communications?
  5. Future steps. As experts in your respective fields, what steps or initiatives do you believe are crucial for the future to better support the mental well-being of diverse students in Education Abroad?
