On June 14, 2011, NAFSA sent the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) a letter asking that implementation of SEVIS Release 6.8 be delayed until several key NAFSA concerns about that release are addressed. The NAFSA letter highlighted concerns regarding the impact of the release on institutional staffing and on institutional ability to offer courses of study.
SEVIS 6.8 was eventually implemented without change on June 24, 2011.
