SEVIS Release 5.10, targeted for an early August 2008 Production environment implementation, includes system changes that will affect both F/M Schools and J Program Sponsors utilizing Batch File Transfer Processing. Descriptions of the SEVIS Release 5.10 Batch system changes are provided in the attached document.

The updated Application Program Interface (API), which specifies the batch interface between SEVIS and the institutions' internal user systems, as well as the SEVIS Table schema reflecting the lookup table changes, will be delivered the week of June 16. The Beta testing environment will be upgraded to Release 5.10 on Friday, July 11 and Batch users will be given two weeks from this date to perform testing. Please note that although the testing period will close Friday, July 25, the Release 5.10 Beta test environment will remain up and running.

Updates include:
  • New Reason to Reprint an F/M student I-20 after "Updated"
  • New functionality to recommend OPT during the 60-day grace period
  • Employment Start Date for F-1 student OPT requests may be no more than 61 days beyond the Program End Date.
  • Ability to enter a Next Session Start Date that is greater than (later than) the Program End Date.
  • New country descriptions for Saint Martin, Saint Barthelemy, & Timor-Leste
