In February, 2011, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) began issuing to certain adjustment of status applicants a single card evidencing work authorization and travel authorization. The card will be issued to adjustment applicants who concurrently file a Form I-131 Application for a Travel Document and Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization. Adjustment applicants who file these forms separately will continue to be issued separate employment and travel documents. The combined card looks similar to a standard USCIS employment authorization document (EAD), but also includes the text "Serves as Advance Parole."

Download to the right a USCIS Update and a set of Questions and Answers concerning the card. USCIS also published an "interim memo for comment" on the new card. Comments on the interim policy memo are due February 28, 2011.
