Melissa Hawkins, EdS
Melissa Hawkins is the International Teaching and Learning Specialist in the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Alabama—Birmingham. In this role, she conducts workshops for faculty focused on at-home internationalization initiatives, including how to incorporate international students’ presence and perspectives into classrooms, as well as international and intercultural content into disciplinary curricula. She holds MA-TESOL and EdS degrees, and she is currently a PhD candidate in Educational Studies of Diverse Populations. Her research interests focus on international faculty, intercultural identity, and the influence of university internationalization on teaching practices.
