On April 22, 2015, the Department of State issued Guidance Directive 2015-01, to clarify for sponsors how to use the "shorten, "end," and "terminate" functions" in SEVIS to comply with reporting requirements at 22 CFR 62.13(a)(3)-(5) and 22 CFR 62.40.
