Day of Action Application Update

NAFSA’s Day of Action application period has closed except for applicants from states or congressional districts where we are still seeking constituents.

If you live or work in the state of Delaware OR the congressional districts represented by Rep. Tom McClintock (CA-04), Rep. Zoe Lofgren (CA-19), Rep. Lou Correa (CA-46), Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49), Rep. Frederica Wilson (FL-24), Rep. Cheri Bustos (IL-17), Rep. Victoria Spartz (IN-05), Rep. Greg Murphy (NC-03), Rep. Tom Cole (OK-03) or Rep. Jaime Herrera-Buetler (WA-03), please submit an application. You can determine the congressional district of your home or employer using the Find Your Representative online directory.

All other interested individuals who live or work within a key state or congressional district where we are no longer seeking advocates are welcome to submit an application in order to be added to the waitlist.

Day of Action Program

The all-virtual event includes:

  • Orientation -- March 3, 2022, 2:00 p.m. ET - 5:00 p.m. ET
    • Briefing on issues and requests of Congress
    • Virtual meeting practice sessions
    • Advocate of the Year announcement
    • Networking mixer
  • Day of Action -- March 9, 2022, 9:30 a.m. ET - 4:30 p.m. ET
    • Group convening for last-minute updates/questions
    • Virtual congressional meetings (exact timing TBD)
    • Group debrief and planning for year-round advocacy

Advocate of the Year

The Advocate of the Year Award recognizes a NAFSA member who exhibits excellence in international education advocacy, inspiring others to make a difference by engaging with elected officials and promoting policies that support creating a more welcoming and globally engaged United States. Nominations for 2022's Advocate of the Year will be open soon.
