NAFSA 2022 Annual Conference & Expo

Peers and experts joined together at the NAFSA 2022 Annual Conference & Expo, the premier global professional learning and networking event for international educators and organizations supporting international education programs. Together, we are "Building Our Sustainable Future."

The NAFSA annual conference program team is pleased to share some of the innovations that will make this year's conference a memorable experience for every conference participant. The NAFSA annual conference and expo has been reimagined and redesigned to meet the unique needs of the moment. This year, NAFSA 2022 is composed of virtual and in-person components, expanding access to networking and learning opportunities for international educators around the world. Check out the table below for what is included in both the All-Access Pass and the Virtual-Only Pass.

  • The virtual component—starting with the virtual kickoff on May 4–5 (now available on-demand) and with additional on-demand elements throughout the month of May—of NAFSA 2022 allows for increased flexibility; you can access programming on your own schedule, at your own pace, and connect with peers and partners across the globe.
  • The in-person component—on May 31–June, in Denver, Colorado, is designed to balance in-depth exploration of critical topics with plenty of time for you to reconnect and network with friends, colleagues, and partners.
  • The opening day of the in-person event in Denver is designed for you to celebrate and reunite with the international education community. The day’s programming begins with an inspiring plenary address, the opening of the International Education Expo, and dedicated time during the afternoon for meetings, networking, and engagement with friends and colleagues.
  • New this year, the Opening Plenary, featuring Priya Parker, is on Tuesday morning, at 9:30 a.m. (MDT) on May 31. The Closing Plenary, featuring Pete McBride, in on Thursday, June 2 at 1:00 p.m. (MDT). Mark your calendars today so you don’t miss these unforgettable plenaries! These programs will also be live-streamed for virtual attendees.
  • This year’s schedule has been formulated so that sessions never conflict with networking time. You no longer have to choose between attending a session or taking advantage of networking events. As we ease back into in-person events, the program allows you to set your own pace and take advantage of the full range of learning and networking opportunities.
  • In the spirit of the event’s focus on sustainability, program and expo information is available via the online planner and the conference mobile app rather than on printed materials. Make sure to download the conference app prior to arriving in Denver!
  • This year’s two Signature Programs, the Latin America and Caribbean Forum (virtual) and Symposium on Leadership (in-person), are included with conference registration.
  • The NAFSA Poster Fairs are held both virtually and in person. You can explore all posters online prior to the in-person component and engage with poster presenters at a scheduled poster fair time in Denver. Posters will be up all week (any time the International Education Expo is open!), so you can explore the gallery on your own time.
  • Each day of the conference begins with a wellness activity and an inspiring talk from spotlight presenters. The program also includes built-in breaks for the wellbeing of attendees. Take advantage of these opportunities to recenter yourself and ensure a mindful conference experience.
  • The NAFSA Bookstore and NAFSA Career support are both located in the NAFSA Pavilion in the International Education Expo.
