Description
The Region VIII New Professional Award recognizes an emerging leader in international higher education who has demonstrated exceptional promise, dedication, and impact within their first three years in the field. This award celebrates individuals who have already made meaningful contributions, shown leadership potential, and exhibited a strong commitment to advancing international education early in their careers.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Have been working in international higher education for five years or less at the time of nomination.
- Currently hold a professional position in international education (e.g., study abroad, international student services, global engagement, or related areas).
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity, and leadership potential within their institution or the broader field.
- Have contributed to a project, initiative, or effort that has positively impacted international education.
Nomination Process
- Who Can Nominate? Colleagues, supervisors, or mentors within the field of international education. Self-nominations are not accepted.
- Submission Requirements:
- A nomination statement (500–750 words) describing the nominee’s contributions, potential, and impact.
- At least one letter of support from a colleague or supervisor.
- Optional: Supporting documents highlighting projects or initiatives led by the nominee.
Selection Criteria
The selection committee will evaluate nominees based on:
- Early Impact: Contributions made within their short time in the field.
- Innovation & Initiative: Evidence of fresh ideas, creative problem-solving, or proactive efforts.
- Commitment to the Profession: Enthusiasm for international education and professional development.
- Future Leadership Potential: Indicators of long-term dedication and ability to drive change in the field.
This award honors the next generation of international education leaders and recognizes those who are making a difference from the very start of their careers.
