Connecting research and practice in international education is essential to advancing the field. Each year, NAFSA's Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship Knowledge Community (TLS KC) recognizes an individual whose research makes a meaningful contribution to the knowledge and practice of the field through the Innovative Research in International Education Award.

Join us for a conversation with the 2026 award recipient, Dong Chen, as she shares insights from her research on transnational dual-degree programs and their impacts on individuals and societies. Through a panel interview and large group discussion, TLS KC leaders will explore how research can inform and strengthen international education practice--and how practitioners can engage with and contribute to research in the field.

The event will also offer guidance on the process for applying for the 2027 TLS KC Award, as well as other NAFSA Awards, which will open for submissions in mid-November.

This event is open to everyone—international education professionals, scholar-practitioners, and researchers at all career stages. Whether you are a researcher, practitioner, or anywhere on the combined spectrum, this event offers an opportunity to connect research, practice, and professional growth.
