Montréal Named “Best City” for International Students

Montréal beat out Paris to earn the top ranking of the best city for international students, according to QS Top Universities 2017 ranking of “Best Student Cities.” Rankings are based on several factors: the city’s affordability, desirability, and employer activity, performance of the city’s universities in the QS World University Rankings, and—new in 2017—a survey of students and recent graduates around the world.

  6. Berlin
  7. Tokyo
  8. Boston
  9. Munich
  10. Vancouver

The 2016 rankings placed Paris first and Montreal seventh.

$25 Million Gift to Colby College for Study Abroad

A Colby College alumnus has donated $25 million to the school for study abroad. The donation from Andrew Davis ‘85, LLD ’15, establishes a new program, DavisConnects, designed to provide funding for all students to spend time abroad on internship, research, or global experiences.

The goal of the initiative, according to Colby College President David A. Greene, is to help make international education experiences more accessible to students who may not have the financial resources to study abroad or the connections to land international internships.
